May is Skin Cancer Awareness month and Las Vegas Dermatology® is doing something special.  Help us spread the word about Skin Cancer this month and come out to The Las Vegas Ballpark, Friday May 16th from 3-5pm (before the game) where The Derm Bros®, The Sun Bus, The Aviators and The Las Vegas Dermatology Foundation are sponsoring Free Skin Cancer Screenings by the Las Vegas Dermatology® team of providers.  Rumor has it that funny man, Jimmie, “J.J.” Walker is throwing out the 1st pitch and comic writer, Cliff Lawrence may make guest appearances at the event.  Tickets for the 5/16 Game can be purchased here– $5 of which goes to the Las Vegas Dermatology Foundation, a tax deductible 501c3 taking donations and using funds to educate those interested in Dermatology careers, offering treatments for those with skin disease and sponsoring lectures and community events- checks can be sent to the office or donate via Paypal.

Last month, my friend and best customer, Ron Fromm, a former Hawaiian Cabana Boy, and a man for whom I named 2 lights in the Las Vegas Dermatology® clinic passed away.  In addition to diagnosing and treating more than 50 skin cancers on Ron, we spent time on NBC 3 News Vegas and filmed a TV Show Pilot.  Ron was a clinic favorite and when he was dying from cancer (not skin cancer) I told him that he couldn’t go yet, because the office needed more furniture- he laughed like only Ron could at a terrible joke like that.  A gentleman, fashion icon and cat lover, my 1st Dr. Vegas Blog about Ron, entitled, “Ron’s Light” was posted on 5/13/2013.  I sure do miss my Friend Ron- heaven gained a hell of a surfer and sun protection advocate last month.

My 2nd best friend from High School says Seinfeld is in town this weekend- Seinfeld’s Skin Cancer quip in the, “The Slicer” Episode (Seinfeld Season 9 Episode 7- aired 11/13/1997) is my favorite doctor related dig- as Jerry teases his Dermatologist girlfriend for not being a, “Real Doctor”.  While dining and defending how she is “Saving Lives”, the Dermatologist gets flustered as Seinfeld calls her, “Pimple Popper, M.D.”.  It continues until a patient comes to their table and thanks her, his Dermatologist, for saving his life. Seinfeld gets a defeated look on his face and says, “Skin Cancer; Damn!”

With 11 years of formal medical education after college, I am passionate about and dedicated to what I do as a, “Real Doctor” Saving Lives in the field of Dermatology- it’s what I love and what I want to do.  How is your 2025 going, are you ready for better looking skin?  Check highlights of our, “Day of Beauty” even last month introducing New Providers (Xin Wang, PA-C; Helen Pirtz, FNP-C; and Maria Zarate, LAE).

Thank You Ron, The Sun Bus and The Aviators,
Dr. Vegas
