Dermatology Notes from Dr. H.L. Greenberg
For most of 2014 I have felt as though I was in a rut. I was doing many of the same things I normally do on a daily basis, but I wasn’t really feeling connected or motivated. My friend Yvette Brown runs a business in town called Cosmopolitan Connections– it’s a fun and social organization that connects our community in a positive way. Recently, at Yvette’s event, I won the opportunity to have the business of Las Vegas Dermatology® discussed and evaluated by the Mysterious Mr. O on KLAV radio’s weekly show hosted by Heather Vale. Although I am not yet sure if I will be using Mr. O’s services to improve the practice, I have been- re-inspired to look at who I am and what I do at Las Vegas Dermatology®. It has always been my goal to make the world a better place, and Mr. O’s webinars made me think of another mentor of mine, Tony Robbins, whose tapes I listened to, books I read and seminars I attended years ago- Tony has a new book out, his first in 20 years with proceeds going to feed the hungry, that has inspired me to set new goals for 2015.
Every Year, PA Joe Gurule and I partner with Mark Wishner and The Sun SafeTee Program to provide free skin cancer screenings to the Golf Coaches Association of America at their annual December meeting in Las Vegas- this year I think I found a number of skin cancers during the screening. Skin Cancer can be a preventable and easily treatable disease, if found early- golfers and golf coaches remain at increased risk for skin cancer because of their sun exposure. My goal as well as the goal of the Sun SafeTee Program is to educate golfers to be sun smart. I really enjoy the impact my work with the Sun SafeTee Program and the GCAA is having on golfers and the golf industry!
Whether you are in a rut yourself, are lacking motivation, or are just not feeling yourself- do something to change your state and look for a way to, as Taylor Swift says, “Shake it Off”. There is nothing quite like the feeling of knowing what you want, going after it and being excited about what you’re doing. I love being a dermatologist and practicing in the city of Las Vegas- it is a dream come true for me. I am grateful to you, my patients, for putting your faith in me and for my team who helps to provide for a Healthier & More Beautiful Life.
