Laser blood vessel treatments work best on small capillaries and venules- 3mm in size or smaller. If the blood vessels are too large, our laser will not be able to treat them and you may need traditional sclerotherapy or intravenous laser ablation- neither of which are performed at Las Vegas Dermatology. You should expect some bruising after your laser blood vessel treatment. When vessels are destroyed, there is bruising and discoloration sometimes lasting a week or more. The body removes unwanted capillaries and venules that have been destroyed by laser light after a short healing process. Many times, it takes a series of treatments, 2-4 laser sessions on average, to remove small, unwanted vessels.
This same Cynergy laser can be used to treat angiomas (little red blood vessel dots on the skin), hemangiomas, vascular birthmarks, rosacea, warts, and even red or pink stretch marks (the laser targets the blood vessels that feed these conditions). Unlike fractional CO2 laser technology, which targets water and destroys the skin’s surface to improve wrinkled skin, the Cynergy laser targets deeper into the skin, destroying only the veins and capillaries, leaving the superficial skin barrier intact. Bruising post Cynergy laser treatment is a known side effect and may last up to a week or longer depending on your reaction. There is some incidental heating with the blood vessel destruction using the Cynergy laser, which may result in mild skin tightening as an added benefit.
